Training
The Anthony Wayne Area Council Training Committee conducts training to support the volunteers who maintian, grow and conduct the Scouting Programs in Northeast Indiana. The are many opportunities for training. For a list of supplimental trainings not listed here, visit the Resource Page or the National BSA site. Online training is also available at MyScouting.org.
Youth Protection Training
Youth Protection training is designed to help you keep our youth safe from abuse. You will learn the Boy Scouts of America's Youth Protection Guidelines, signs of abuse, and how to report suspected abuse. After each section of material, you will answer questions about that section's topic. This course must be completed to earn the "Trained" emblem. Completion is noted automatically in the BSA training records database if the module is experienced online. Estimated time to complete: 40 minutes.

Seabadge Course # SB-11 IN 2012
Seabadge is an advanced leadership training experience for Sea Scout adult leaders and committee members. There will be a Seabadge course on April 27-29, 2012 at the Lake James Christian Assembly Church in Angola, Indiana.
Requirements:
*Currently registered in an adult Sea Scout position
*Completed Venturing Leader Youth Protection Training, "This is Scouting"
*Completed Sea Scout Adult Leader Basic Training

Trainer's EDGE -- To register online click here. The purpose of the Trainer’s EDGE course is to provide and help develop the platform skills of a trainer and supplement the practice that is offered through other training course’s staff developments. Trainer’s EDGE focuses on the participant as it will “train the trainer” on behaviors and resources while offering hands-on experience in methods and media. You will have the opportunity to give several presentations during the day. This Training is for all Pack, Troop, Varsity, and Venturing Unit Leaders and all District and Council Training Personnel. It is also required training for Wood Badge and NYLT staff.
IOLS (Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills)-- To register online click here. The outdoors are the training grounds in Scouting. Outdoor skills are critical to the success of the Scouting program, and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills will provide leaders with the basic outdoor skills information needed to start a program right. The skills taught are based on the outdoor skills found in The Boy Scout Handbook. IOLS is typically held twice per year in April and October.
OWL/BALOO
-- To register online click here. Come have fun and learn outdoor skills to show the boys in your pack. You will learn camping, fire safety, and many outdoor skills. Come for the classes and stay for the fun. This course is required to take your boys camping and to earn your Webelos Leader Knot. OWL/BALOO is typically held twice per year in the spring and fall.
Archery/BB Gun Training -- This adult instructor training is needed for those who are instructing youth in these shooting sports.
NYLT -- National Youth Leadership Training is an exciting, action-packed program designed for councils to provide youth members with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home troops and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others.
Woodbadge -- The next Wood Badge course will be held on April 20th-22nd & May 18th-20th at Camp Chief Little Turtle in Ashley, IN. The course number is C6-157-12-1.
Wood Badge For The 21st Century is the ultimate leadership training program for the adult leaders of the Boy Scouts of America. Similar courses on the corporate side cost thousands of dollars per attendee and may not offer the same depth. Wood Badge for the 21st Century is a modern format of training that delivers the latest in 12 leadership skills that will help you be the best leader possible. These are skills that will become part of your everyday life. You will use these skills at home, church, and anywhere leadership is needed.
University of Scouting
-- University of Scouting 2012 is on October 20th at IPFW in Fort Wayne. University of Scouting offers an amazing day of training for all levels of leadership in all programs. From novice leader to the very experienced leader there is something for everyone. We highly encourage units to send all of their leaders to University of Scouting!
